Box.net launching Enterprise Developer Project

Box.net announced today an enterprise developer project called Box Innovation Network, which encourages dev communities to create new enterprise software. Essentially, the goal is to create a Facebook-type ecosystem for developers.

The founder hopes employees see how easy it is to share, edit, and collaborate on various projects. He says that by creating an open ecosystem, companies will be able to develop an app and deploy it to all company users instantly.

According to CNET, “As a bonus to today’s announcement, Box is providing $2 million in funding for startups that contribute to the expansion of the Box platform. The company hopes this will rally an army of developers to its mission.”
