Google: 200 million Android devices now active worldwide

Over 200 million Android devices have been activated around the world, Google reported yesterday. The figure was released during the launch of Google Music yesterday. That number is more than double than a figure reported in May of this year.

Further, more than 550,000 devices are being activated every day, according to Engadget, up from a daily tally of 500,000 in June and 400,000 in May.

Google is catching up with the dominant iOS platform, which was reported as being 250 million units strong at the iPhone 4S launch event. Granted, that means that no iPhone 4S’s are included in that number.
