Playing ‘Skyrim’ will get you fit

Skyrim Fitness, a new fitness program, asks gamers to earn game time by exercising – becoming one of the hottest releases of the year.

“Skyrim Fitness pushes players of Bethesda Softwork’s latest massive fantasy role-playing game to do 10 push-ups to earn an hour of time in a world that can take 60, 80, 100 hours to fully play and explore.”

This means, of course, that some of the larger worlds could yield 1,000 pushups throughout the course of a given world’s gameplay.

The Skyrim Fitness program relies on the honor code and trusts that users of an online fitness program would not try and cheat the system by not actually doing the exercises.

Tracking of the exercises done by its members is taking place on the community fitness site Fitocracy.
