Skype desktop app now makes Facebook video calls

Skype and Facebook now share a common bond – the ability to contact each other via video calls.

Using the Skype 5.4 Beta for Mac and Skype 5.7 Beta for Windows, you can make Facebook video calls via Skype software by simply linking your Facebook account to Skype. The recipient of your call is capable of answering via the Facebook website or the Skype software (assuming they have linked their Facebook account with Skype as well). This should be an incredibly convenient way to continue expanding the video calling platform. Hopefully FaceTime, Apple’s video calling system, will be incorporated soon.

In addition to the Facebook integration announcement, they also claim that video calling quality have been improved and users should notice a ‘smoother’ call clarity.
