Twitter wants Twittter and Twittr

Recently, Twitter was successful in obtaining Twiter.com after filing a dispute with WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization). Now, it is interested in collecting other misspelled versions.

Last week, Twitter filed a complaint asking for the ownership rights to Twittter.com and Twittr.com, both of which currently lead to contextual ad pages.

Twitter has been more active in trying to protect their brand name – even though it seems less and less important as Twitter has established itself rather strongly on the web. This is especially true since the founder, Evan Williams, considers domains to be “on their way out” referencing the growing usage of social networks as web pages.
