eInk vs Backlite for eReaders
I recently started reading eBooks on my iPad and had a pretty alarming realization that reading on a backlit device is a tough task.
This came to light when I was reading the Steve Jobs biography by Walter Issacson. Naturally, I was emphatically drawn into this book and thusly read the book for pretty extensive periods of time. By the end of each reading session, my eyes hurt and I was tired – more tired than usual when I’m reading. I knew that feeling – it was the same as when I work on the computer for extensive periods of time as well.
I love my iPad, don’t get me wrong. I use it all day and well into the evening for work and leisure. That said, I think it is time to go the Kindle route for my eReading needs as eInk is just about as good as it gets. Especially now that the entry level Kindle is only $79 dollars – how can you pass that up?
