‘Connected Camera’ All You Need?
The idea behind ‘connected cameras’ is that they are connected to devices that you use every day. This idea has come into the forefront lately due to the fact that cell phone cameras have caught up to the times with 8+ Megapixel capabilities, HD recording, and features that used to be only available on the finer point-and-shoot cameras.
So the debate becomes: Do you need to have a dedicated point-and-shoot camera if you have a smartphone that is capable of taking great pictures?
Some would say yes – there is still a market for the dedicated camera devices because they do generally offer more capabilities and higher resolutions. Others would disagree stating that you always have your phone, which means you always have your camera. Short of being a professional, amateur photographers will find plenty of advanced features in their cell phones.
Sure, the cell phones won’t ever replace the DSLR cameras that professionals use to get the best shots and the most bizarre angles, but I think there is a case in saying that the point-and-shoot market will see a stark decline as cell cameras start competing with what they have to offer.
